About Gail Cuthbert Artist

I studied Fine Art at Lincoln College, and for two decades I have been using my creative practice to channel emotions stirred by our changing world.

I grew up in an era where life felt unhurried and communal. A high pressure role in the 90’s reshaped how I viewed others. This left lasting marks on my psyche.  I used art as my emotional outlet and forged a vivid personal style that marries bright hues with deeper narratives.  I transform dark feelings into colourful visuals and I invite viewers to linger and connect emotionally.

My paintings are a celebration of color, emotion, and the profound connections that bind us to nature and each other. Drawing inspiration from the wild beauty of animals, the serenity of underwater worlds, and the quiet strength of the human spirit, I strive to create art that uplifts and inspires. Each canvas is an invitation to explore stories of resilience, hope, and unity. I use vibrant palettes and dynamic compositions to evoke a sense of wonder, encouraging viewers to reflect on their own relationship with the world around them. Whether depicting a powerful figure poised against a fiery world map, a tranquil underwater embrace, or the joyful companionship of animals, my work seeks to honour the harmony and diversity of life. At the heart of my practice is a belief in art’s ability to connect, heal, and empower. I hope my paintings offer a moment of reflection and a reminder of the beauty and strength that exists within us all. My art celebrates the vibrant connections between humanity and the natural world. Through bold color and evocative storytelling, I explore the beauty, resilience, and harmony found in nature, animals, and the bonds that unite us all.
My paintings are a celebration of colour, emotion, and the profound connections that bind us to the natural world. Working on a large scale allows me to immerse viewers in vibrant scenes where people, animals, and the environment exist in harmony. Recurring themes of underwater serenity, wild landscapes, and human-animal relationships reflect my fascination with the resilience and beauty found in both nature and ourselves. Each canvas is a narrative—sometimes bold and empowering, sometimes gentle and contemplative—inviting reflection on unity, hope, and the stories we share with the world around us. I use expressive figures, lush organic backgrounds, and a palette that pulses with life to evoke a sense of wonder and belonging. Ultimately, my goal is to inspire viewers to see themselves as part of a larger, interconnected story—one where empathy, courage, and joy are as essential as the colors on my brush. Through my art, I hope to spark conversations about our place in nature and the power of creativity to bring us together.
