Deep Oracle

This piece presents an enigmatic Nana Buruku whose steady, penetrating gaze reveals a lifetime of lore. She is the oldest of the Orishas and the mother of all life according to the Yoruba beliefs. Swathed in purple that melts into the water, she clasps a staff entwined by a vivid green serpent — a quiet emblem of knowledge and transformation. A solemn turtle surfaces beneath her, symbolising longevity, wisdom and protection across many cultures. The turtle is associated with fertility and stability and represents the connection to Mother Earth. Dark birds cut across a clouded sky, layering the scene with tension between the seen and the hidden.
